Final Thoughts
13. Is there anything i could improve to make the care better?
I don’t think so. I think I should have explained earlier that I wasn’t uncomfortable with you it was just getting used to someone new that was difficult for me and would take time.
14. What did you value most about the live-in care you received?
Beata was extremely professional and very quickly learnt how I liked things to be done and adapted to my needs. She picked new things up extremely quickly and was very diligent about ensuring tasks got done on time. As well as asking questions as necessary and ensuring she was doing things as I wanted. I was apprehensive after previous poor experiences of live-in care (several years ago), but Beata was the opposite of this which was a major relief. It gave me the opportunity for a break from my parents, who (unlike previous live-in carers) felt confident that Beata would provide the care I needed and could step back. It also meant I could get out of my wheelchair more, and I particularly enjoyed playing board games (Beata is great at these!) which I haven't been able to do in ages. Beata was great at being involved when necessary but being in the background when necessary too, and checking that I was happy with that balance. Much appreciated! This probably affected things a bit as it was new to me and it takes time to adjust (Beata couldn’t have been more accommodating), so I’m sure in future things will be even better as I’ll be more comfortable.
All the best,
Nicola
