As a Community Care Worker, I supported up to 20 clients per day, delivering hands‑on care, administering medication safely, and maintaining clear communication with the office.
Most importantly, I gained first‑hand insight into systemic gaps — from medication management to the impact of effective coordination. Experiencing these issues directly shaped my understanding of what frontline teams need from their leaders, and it influenced how I approached every office‑based role that followed.
A memorable feedback from a very stoic client:
“You mean the world to me.”
Feedback from a colleague:
“This is how assessment of a new client should look like!”
''You weren’t just delivering care — you were noticing patterns, spotting risks and raising concerns long before anyone else took them seriously. That’s not ordinary frontline work. That’s early leadership."
I stepped into my first office‑based role and I naturally operated above the expectations of my role because i sincerely enjoyed this new aspect of Health and Social Care.
As a Field Care Supervisor for Adult Complex Care company, I strengthened service quality through supervisions, performance management, and quality assurance. I also supported the coordination of approx 12,000 weekly care hours as well as the RGN case management team in covering for a Case Manager during her few months absence and eventual resignation. This included writing highly complex care plans, meeting and assessing new clients, starting complex care packages, communicating with the MDT, and liaising with the barrister involved in a high‑profile safeguarding case, ensuring continuity, accuracy, and high‑quality delivery across all cases.
I introduced a more strategic approach to decision‑making and conflict resolution by conducting a year‑on‑year business analysis and internal audit, which was then presented to senior leadership. This work reshaped how the company evaluated performance and highlighted the value of data‑driven oversight.
Alongside operational duties, I provided hands-on emergency support for approx 23 complex‑care adult clients with: Spinal cord injuries (various levels), Acquired and congenital brain injuries, Musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions, Autism and Learning Disability, Dementia. This made me extremaly flexible with my clinical skills as well as adaptability.
I have also organised and led internal events, and completed my NVQ 5 in Leadership & Management, demonstrating commitment to continuous development.
In this role, I coordinated care packages for children with complex needs, supporting families through high‑pressure situations and ensuring consistent, reliable cover. I worked closely with parents experiencing anxiety, stress, and emotional strain, providing clear communication and structure during challenging moments.
A highlight was receiving a message from one of our most demanding parents, thanking me for organising their package and creating an Excel tool that helped them track hours, holidays, and additional support — something that they said they would use forever.
Another memorable moment was during a suppervision of a carer who was very humble, who came to the UK few years ago and never hoped to become anything more than that. When we discussed her aspirations, additional training, etc, she became very emotional and thanked so sincerely for taking interest in her that I remembered how powerful a genuine conversation can be.
I supported two Home Instead branches in preparing for a high‑level internal franchise compliance inspection. Prior to my involvement, both locations had been rated Did Not Pass twice within a short period, making the upcoming review final and particularly critical.
In this assignment, my role was to restore and stabilise quality and compliance, and assure both branches pass the inspection that was in 3 months. This included working through the inspector’s notes, creating structured action plans for each branch, collaborating closely with Managers, and leading a team of Field Care Supervisors to ensure timely and effective implementation of their KPIs.
I audited, organised, and closed gaps across almost every operational and clinical area of the business. This included: care plans, risk assessments, medication records, daily care notes, incidents and accidents, safeguardings, complaints, HR documentation, training compliance, record keeping, among others. I also supported operational delivery by starting new packages, conducting MDT reviews, and writing most complex care plans and risk assessments. Used data to monitor&record quality and compliance, review trends, prove the lessons were learned, progress of innovation, etc, all providing a clear picture of making consistent improvements to the service.
One of the most challenging and impactful aspects of the role was implementing a full training turnaround. I reorganised and mobilised the training team, introduced new systems, and provided hands‑on support during a period when the Registered Manager was absent, ensuring continuity and progress during a critical phase.
This position was the most complex and most demanding I have held so far, but also deeply rewarding. I combined clinical insight with operational structure — and ultimately it inspired me to offer my expertise as an Independent Quality & Compliance Consultant.
I was brought in as an independent contractor to lead the organisation’s expansion into Complex Home Care, initially stepping into a Business Development role before progressing into Registered Care Manager responsibilities. My work laid the full operational, regulatory, and strategic foundation for launching a compliant, scalable care service.
Key contributions included:
Business Strategy & Positioning — Developed the full business plan, mission, vision, core values, and financial flow projections to define the service direction and long‑term sustainability.
CQC Registration Leadership — Completed the CQC application, prepared for interview, and built all required governance structures, including personalised policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks.
Operational Setup — Established all operational and legal systems for a new care provider, including HR, compliance, onboarding, induction, safeguarding, and quality assurance frameworks.
Recruitment & Workforce Development — Recruited nurses, carers, and office staff; sourced training providers; designed onboarding process and induction training; created onboarding content for international staff.
Digital & Systems Implementation — Selected and implemented care‑management software, oversaw website creation, and produced all website and marketing content.
Supplier & Partnership Management — Secured PPE suppliers, set up delivery systems, and applied for relevant professional memberships and insurances.
Documentation & Governance — Built a complete blueprint library covering HR, CQC, compliance, staff documentation, client welcome packs, and operational templates.
Overall impact: I transformed a recruitment‑focused organisation into a fully prepared, CQC‑ready complex‑care provider with complete operational infrastructure, governance, workforce systems, and strategic direction.
I provide high‑quality live‑in complex care, supporting clients with dignity, safety, and independence in their own homes. I’ve worked with several private clients and received strong references for my professionalism, reliability, and compassionate approach.
Alongside direct care, I practice as an Independent Quality & Compliance Consultant, using my background in CQC governance, policy development, and care‑service setup to help care providers strengthen their documentation and compliance frameworks.
